RALPH P. SEDGWICK

Funeral Director / Owner

Ralph P. Sedgwick was born in 1974 in Canton, IL to Richard Sedgwick and Margaret Bloyd. Ralph graduated from Lewistown High School in 1992 and received an Associate Degree in Mortuary Science from Southern Illinois University in 1994. He is married to Karen Majors and they share 3 children; Tony Mendoza, Alexis Sedgwick, and Gracie Sedgwick. He is a member of the First Chrisian Church in Canton, a strong supporter of the Canton JFL, Ducks Unlimited member, Pheasants forever member, past rotary, and a full time father. He has been active in the funeral business all of his life and has been owner of Sedgwick Funeral Homes since 1996.


DARRYL SCHRODT

Funeral Director / Embalmer

Darryl Schrodt was born October 10, 1964 in Canton, IL. He graduated from Canton High School in 1982 and Southern Illinois University in 1984. Darryl married Kim Pantak in 1984 and they have three children; Amanda, Derek, and Cole. He has worked full time at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home since August 1984. Darryl worked at the funeral home part time prior to going to school to be a mortician. He has lived in Canton his whole life and has been very active in the community. He has coached baseball and football in Canton for many years. Darryl has also been active in Canton Kiwanis Club serving as President, Vice-President, Secretary, and as a Board member over the last 20 years. Kim and Darryl are active members of the First Christian Church serving as Deacon's and their children sing in the youth choirs.


SCOTT D. BREWER

Funeral Director / Embalmer

Scott D. Brewer was born on June 25, 1984 to Ed and Adrina (Caulkins) Brewer of Lewistown. He graduated from Lewistown Community High School in 2002 and Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg in 2005 with an Assosiates Degree in Mortuary Science. He has worked for Sedgwick Funeral Homes since August of 2005. He married Megan Davis summer of 2009 and resides in Canton.  He is an active member of the Grace Baptist Church in Havana and Canton Ambassor Club. 


ROSEMARY HAMMOND

Corporate Secretary

Rosemary Hammond was born in Canton to John and Mary (Franciskovich) Horton. She married Ricky Hammond in 1968 and they have two sons, Richard Hammond and Brian (Lisa) Hammond both of Canton. She also has four granddaughters and one grandson. She attended Canton schools and graduated from Canton High School in 1968. After having her children, she graduated from International Beauty Academy in 1976 and worked as a beautician in Canton for 24 years. She started working for Sedgwick Funeral Homes in the fall of 1999 and is their secretary/office manager. She is an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she is a Eucharistic Minister.


ROBERT HULVEY

Funeral Assistant

Bob Hulvey has been married to Jeannett for 50 years. He has 3 children, 12 grand-children, and 4 great grand-children. He worked at Caterpillar, Inc. at the Mapleton Foundry for 30 years. Bob also spent 3 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He has worked at Sedgwick Funeral Homes for 11 years beginning in 1995.


HOWARD JOHNSON

Funeral Assistant

Howard Johnson was born on September 17, 1938 in Douglas Co., IL. He married Kay Tabor. He has three children: Kevin, Anna, and Ketra. He graduated from Oakland High School and attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science. He graduated in 1964. He owned Anderson Funeral Home in Farmington, IL for 20 years. He retired from the funeral home in 1997. Howard returned to the funeral business in 2006 for Sedgwick Funeral Homes.


GERALD VANTINE

Funeral Assistant

Gerald G. VanTine, a native of Canton, IL. has served as minister for several years. He is married to the former Ruth Arnett. They have three sons, Pastor Kevin W. VanTine, Geron B. VanTine and G. Mark VanTine, all of Canton. They also have eight grandchildren, Alicia (Kyle) Bloyd, Ashley (Pastor Jason) Phillips, Abbie VanTine, Lance VanTine, Joel VanTine, Brandon VanTine, Dustin VanTine and Taylor VanTine and one great grand-daughter, Camri. Gerald has served on the Pastoral Staff of the Covenant Community Fellowship in Canton, IL. He is a graduate from Valley High School and attended Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, IL. He was ordained as minister in 1958. Gerald is happy to be a part of the staff of Sedgwick Funeral Homes.
